For the Sake of the Song w/Anna Larson, Ray Prim, & Matthew Payne

 —  —

Quacks Soundspace, 5326 Menchaca Road, Austin, TX 78745

For the Sake of the Song is a celebration, a showcase, a gathering of Austin songwriters. It’s an excuse to get together, to create community, to center our lives on Song, on sharing, on story. It’s a South Austin City Limits for Songwriters.

A dream evening for songwriter/host Matthew Payne. There will be two back-to-back Songwriters-in-the-Round performances, with four songwriters in each round. For the March Spring Edition, songwriters include JM Stevens, Beaver Nelson, Michael Fracasso, Ethan Azarian, Ray Prim, Anna Larson, and Claudia Gibson. Each of these songwriters represents the magic of our city, the magic of Song. They are each vital parts of the Austin songwriting community, a community which stretches back in a long tradition. They play vast halls throughout our city, to large crowds, and also keep the light on in the time-honored humble bars and buildings of our city when there’s just a few folks hangin around.

They are the voices at our festivals, in our coffeeshops, our clubs, our galleries, our house concerts, jams, and song circles. They are out there on the road when they’re not here at home.

As Townes Van Zandt says, songwriters like these, they all just have to sing “for the sake of the song.”Come on out for a free night of Song from Austin’s own! Pay as you are able. All donations go directly to songwriters and our sound engineer.
